Calendar Sync is a **Premium feature** that connects your Detailed Plan workouts to Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, or any calendar app that supports .ics files. ## Why Sync Your Workouts? - **Phone notifications** remind you when it's workout time - **See workouts alongside** your meetings and appointments - **Share your schedule** with family or training partners - **Auto-updates** when you add or change workouts in Clear Mornings --- ## Subscription vs. One-Time Export Clear Mornings offers two sync methods: ### Calendar Subscription (Recommended) Your calendar app **subscribes** to your workout feed: - Changes sync automatically (new workouts, edits, deletions) - Always up to date - Works with Apple Calendar and Google Calendar ### One-Time Download Download a **.ics file** and import it: - Workouts are imported once - Changes require re-downloading - Works with Outlook and any calendar app **Recommendation**: Use subscription for Apple or Google Calendar. Use download only for Outlook or if you need offline access. --- ## Setting Up Calendar Sync ### Step 1: Plan Your Workouts Before syncing, you need workouts to sync: 1. Switch to **Detailed Plan** view on your exercise habit 2. **Add planned workouts** with activities and durations 3. Optional: Set **specific times** for timed calendar events ### Step 2: Open Calendar Sync 1. In Detailed Plan view, tap the **"Sync" button** (calendar icon in header) 2. The Calendar Sync modal opens with your options ### Step 3: Choose Your Calendar --- ## Apple Calendar Best for iPhone, iPad, and Mac users. ### How to Subscribe 1. Tap **"Subscribe"** next to Apple Calendar 2. Your device opens Apple Calendar automatically 3. Confirm the subscription when prompted 4. Workouts appear in a new "Clear Mornings" calendar ### What You'll See - Workouts appear as events in your calendar - Activity names show in the event title - Duration and notes in event details - Updates sync automatically (usually within a few hours) **iOS Tip**: Apple Calendar refreshes subscribed calendars periodically. To force a refresh, go to Calendar app > Calendars > tap the subscribed calendar > Refresh. --- ## Google Calendar Best for Android users and Gmail/Google Workspace users. ### How to Subscribe 1. Tap **"Subscribe"** next to Google Calendar 2. You'll be redirected to Google Calendar 3. Confirm adding the calendar subscription 4. Workouts appear in a new subscribed calendar ### What You'll See - Workouts as calendar events - Activity icons and names - Duration information - Auto-updates when you change workouts **Sync Delay**: Google Calendar refreshes subscribed calendars every 12-24 hours. For immediate updates, you may need to remove and re-add the subscription. --- ## Outlook and Other Apps For Outlook, Fantastical, or other calendar apps. ### How to Download 1. In the Calendar Sync modal, expand **"Outlook or other calendar apps"** 2. Tap **"Download Calendar File"** 3. Open the downloaded .ics file 4. Import into your calendar app ### Re-Syncing Changes Unlike subscriptions, downloaded files don't auto-update: 1. Make changes in Clear Mornings 2. Download a new .ics file 3. Import again (may create duplicates depending on your app) **Outlook Tip**: Some versions of Outlook support URL subscriptions. Try adding the subscription URL manually in Calendar Settings > Add Calendar > From Internet. --- ## How Events Appear ### Timed Events If you set a **specific start and end time** when planning: ``` Event: Running When: Tuesday, Dec 10 | 6:00 AM - 7:00 AM Notes: Morning 5K in the park ``` ### All-Day Events If you only set a **duration** (no specific time): ``` Event: Strength Training (45 min) When: Tuesday, Dec 10 | All Day Notes: Upper body focus ``` **Pro Tip**: Set specific times for workouts you want reminders for. All-day events don't trigger notifications by default. --- ## Grouped Workouts When you plan multiple activities together (e.g., "Running + Yoga"): ``` Event: Running + Yoga When: Wednesday, Dec 11 | 6:30 AM - 7:30 AM Duration: 60 minutes ``` All activities in a group appear as a single calendar event. --- ## Managing Your Subscription ### Checking Sync Status After subscribing, the Sync button shows: - **Green checkmark**: Successfully subscribed - **Calendar service**: Which app you connected - **Last sync**: When your calendar last fetched updates ### Updating Your Subscription When you add, edit, or delete workouts: 1. Changes are immediately available in the feed 2. Your calendar app fetches updates on its schedule 3. Apple: Every few hours | Google: Every 12-24 hours ### Removing the Subscription **Apple Calendar:** 1. Open Calendar app 2. Tap "Calendars" at bottom 3. Find "Clear Mornings" subscription 4. Tap info (i) icon > Delete Calendar **Google Calendar:** 1. Open Google Calendar settings 2. Find subscribed calendar 3. Click unsubscribe/remove --- ## Troubleshooting ### Workouts Not Appearing 1. **Check subscription is active** in your calendar app 2. **Force refresh** the calendar (see tips above) 3. **Verify workouts exist** in Detailed Plan view 4. **Wait** - subscription refresh can take hours ### Wrong Times Displayed 1. **Check your timezone** in Clear Mornings settings 2. **Verify calendar timezone** matches your location 3. Workouts sync in your set timezone ### Duplicate Events This usually happens with .ics downloads: 1. Delete the imported calendar 2. Download a fresh .ics file 3. Import again ### "Subscription Not Found" Error 1. Make sure you're still logged into Clear Mornings 2. Check your subscription tier (Premium required) 3. Try re-subscribing from the Sync modal --- ## Privacy & Security ### What's Shared Your synced calendar contains: - Workout activity names - Scheduled dates and times - Duration - Notes (if you added any) ### What's NOT Shared - Your name or email - Account information - Other habits or health data - Recovery scores or streaks ### Subscription URL Security - Each user has a unique subscription URL - URL includes a secure identifier - Don't share your subscription URL publicly --- ## Requirements ### Subscription Tier Calendar Sync requires **Premium** or **Premium+** subscription. **Basic Plan**: You'll see an upgrade prompt when trying to sync.
